Table 4: Standard, "Midi" Size, Forged Eights

• These are smaller than average, but not so small that they become cumbersome.
• I use a height of 123 to 133 mm. as the criteria for placing a forged eight into this category.
• Cavers may find that these give too much friction on muddy rope.
• Like most eights, all of these are forged from an aluminum alloy.
• With the exception of #1180, 1208, 1209, 3285, 1275,and 1366, all the eights in Tables 4 and 5 that have the same finish type are, for practical rappelling purposes, identical.

• These eights are similar to those in the previous table, but they also feature a hole for a keeper cord.
• Except for the RockHouse, a standard-sized eight, all of these are "midi" size.
• I don't have much need for a keeper cord, but if you want to use one, these eights have a place to tie it.
• With the exception of #1180, 1208, 1209, 1275, 1366, and 3352, all the eights in Tables 4 and 5 that have the same finish type are, for practical rappelling purposes, identical.
• In this table, special shading in the ID field background indicates eights that are particularly similar except for markings and possibly finish.
