Technical Details

I acquired my Kailas from Lucky Outdoor in 2010.

The Kailas is forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 110 mm. tall, 69 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 45 mm. high and 48 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 10 mm. The shaft length and width are 26 mm. and 27 mm., respectively. The eye measures 20 mm. by 25 mm. My eight weighs 76 g.

The front is printed with "KAILAS" and the Kailas logo. The rear of the shaft is printed with "KAILAS" at the top, a strength test icon (not a rigging illustration!) labeled "kN" and "25" on the shaft, and "05 10" at the bottom.

Comments

The Kailas is a typical example of a "mini" size, forged, aluminum eight. The rope hole is shorter than normal, so it may provide too much friction on stiff or muddy ropes. The Kailas is lighter than most figure eights.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
