Technical Details

I acquired this British rack from Jim Mousley on eBay in 2015.

This British rack is 200 mm. tall, 65 mm. wide, 20 mm. thick, and weighs 453 g.

The frame is made from 9.5 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 28 mm. There are five brake bars. The bars are solid aluminum alloy. Each bar is 19 mm. in diameter and 65 mm. long. The odd number bars have closed holes and the even numbered bars have slots that allow the bars to open. Allowing 35 mm. for the rope leaves 40 mm. for spreading the bars. A locking hex nut on each side of the frame secures the bars.

The three even numbered bars are stamped "CJW." These appear to have been stamped individually as the spacing and alignment varies, and I suspect these were a previous owner’s initials.

Comments

This is a well-made rack, but I am not able to positively identify the manufacturer.

Technical Details

I acquired this rack in 2017 as part of Bob Thrun’s collection.

My British, Version B rack is 277 mm. tall, 65 mm. wide, 19 mm. thick, and weighs 574 g. The frame is made from 9.5 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 28 mm. There are six brake bars. The bars are 19 mm. in diameter and 65 mm. long. Allowing 35 mm. for the rope leaves 90 mm. for spreading the bars.

There are no markings on this rack.

Comments

Although Bob left no notes about this rack and I am not able to positively identify the manufacturer, I'm confident that this was made by the same manufacturer as Version A.
