Technical Details

I made this rack in 2009.

The Femtorack rack is 94 mm. tall, 46 mm. wide, 19 mm. thick, and weighs 221 g. The frame is made from 7.9 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 17 mm. There are two brake bars. The top (fixed) bar is 16 mm. in diameter and the second (swinging) bar is 19 mm. in diameter. Both bars are 46 mm. long. The nuts are stainless steel lock nuts. There is no effective room for spreading the bars.

Comments

If Carroll Bassett of BMS can take the idea of a standard rack and make a Mini (rack), Microrack, Nano belay (sort of a rack), and Pico-rack, then why not carry the idea to the absurd and logical end? That is why I created the 2-bar Femtorack and the one-bar Attorack.

There is no effective room for spreading the bars, so this is a constant friction device.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
