Technical Details

InstructionsI acquired this rack from Al Fincham in 1981.

My Goldlock Curlew rack is 166 mm. tall, 64 mm. wide, 20 mm. thick, and weighs 317 g. The frame is made from 7.9 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 37 mm. There are four soft-anodized solid aluminum brake bars. The bars are 19 mm. in diameter and 37 mm. long. Two lock nuts hold the bars on the frame.

There are no markings on this rack.

Comments

With four bars on a short frame, the Curlew provides considerable friction. Allowing 35 mm. for the rope leaves 22 mm. range for spreading the bars, which is insignificant. Since the frame is so small, one cannot control friction by bar spacing, so this is a constant friction device.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
