Technical Details

I acquired this Xinda eight on eBay from Jerry Yas in 2025.

This eight is *forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 130 mm. tall, 97 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 35 mm. high and 54 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 37 mm. and 26 mm., respectively. The eye measures 22 mm. by 26 mm. The top and bottom ears are 13 and 18 mm. long, respectively. My Xinda weighs 135 g.

One side is printed with the Xinda logo, "XiNDΛ," "XD–8652," "Rope ø:8–13mm," "XF494–2023," "MBS:30kN," and "02/25."

Comments

With the extra top horns, this one falls into my miscellaneous figure eights with ears category.

The top horns allow looping the rope over the top to add some friction. With some ropes I doubt this would be necessary, but with thin, flexible strings, it may be useful.

With certain ropes, the top horns are large enough to allow partially reliable tie-offs. I use a simpler, more reliable tie-off technique so to me the top horns are superfluous for tie-offs.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
