Technical Details

I acquired my CanyonZone Canyon8 from CanyonZone.com - Gertjan van Pelt in 2021.

The CanyonZone Canyon8 is forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 121 mm. tall, 75 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 43 mm. high and 54 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 9 mm. The shaft length and width are 33 mm. and 25 mm., respectively. The eye measures 25 mm. by 27 mm. My eight weighs 87 g.

One side of the eight is printed with "CanyonZone.com" broken into three parts and over/underlaying an icon consisting of an SFD 8 with mountains in the center hole.

Comments

The CanyonZone Canyon8 is a typical example of a "Flat Top" aluminum eight. The rope path has some sudden bends so the eight would tend to "grab" under some gritty rope conditions. The eye could be used for a "Sticht" belay on double (but not single) 9 mm. rope. It doesn't work well for belaying with 11 mm. rope.

The CanyonZone Canyon8 is identical to the Black Diamond Super 8.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
