Technical Details

I acquired this Balance Community Alpine Weblock 5 from Ryan Dumka in 2022.

My Weblock 5 is 76 mm. long, 131 mm. wide, 56 mm. high, and weighs 199 g.

The Weblock 5 is milled from7075 aluminum alloy and then hard-anodized . The pin is 17-4 pH stainless steel with a 2024 aluminum handle and 440C stainless steel balls.

The front of the body is printed with the "alpine 5 weblock" logo, and the top with the Balance Community "BC" walking strand logo. The rear is printed with "WLL 16 kN MBS 80 kN," "25mm (1")SLACKLINE USE ONLY," "BALANCE COMMUNITY INC," "A051B W20ZZ ISA:51," a book-with-an-"i" icon, the "ISA APPROVED" logo of the International Slackline Association, and a partial rigging illustration. The distal end is printed with "BECKET WLL 6 kN." The QR pin is printed with
"USH BUTTON TO RELEASE PIN," "A0621", the Balance Community "BC" walking strand logo. and "W21AL."

Comments

The Weblock 5 is the fifth in a series of webbing locks for slacklining, and has since been superseded by a sixth generation version. The Weblock 5 provides an approved means of attaching a slackline to an anchor system without appreciable loss in webbing strength. Carabiners (EN 362 or EN 12275) are not approved for highline use.

Users should read the manual before using, and the illustration printed on the weblock is only a partial rigging illustration. To prevent slippage, the user needs to provide a carabiner (I prefer a large HMS carabiner, but a large oval works fine) and rig a secondary lock as shown in the figure. The rigger should then back up the non-walking end of the webbing.

Warning:
Balance COmmunity recalled oldER pins with serial number W19ZZ (top one BELOW).
These front pins can disassemble themselves in normal use.
