Technical Details

I acquired my Krok Arbo-yoke from Krok in 2021.

My Arbo-yoke is 54 mm. long, 124 mm. wide, 45 mm. high, and weighs 189 g.

The Arbo-yoke consists of two 3.3 mm. aluminum alloy plates bolted together with two 5 mm. machine screws washers, and lock nuts, and a spring-loaded pin. The left-hand screw passes through a 13.8 mm. diameter, 18 mm. long spacer. The left-hand pin passes though a 35 mm. diameter spacer of the same length. This spacer has a U-shaped groove turned on its circumference giving a 27 mm. central diameter. Although this resembles a pulley sheave, it does not rotate. The spring-loaded pin is 9.7 mm. in diameter. It has a cross pin pressed into its end, which can pass through a clearance slot in the front shell and engage an opposing recess to lock the pin in place.

The front is printed with ’"Арбо-бугель Бингхема"’ (meaning Arbo-yoke Bingham), "1901.2704," a book-with-an-"i" icon, "Ø11÷15," and a rigging illustration consisting of a rope with a hollow up-pointing arrow beneath. The rear is printed with the same rigging illustration. The head of the rigging pin is etched with the Krok logo.

Comments

"Бингхема" refers to Kevin Bingham, who invented the original rope wrench. The rope wrench was designed for arborists, not cavers and climbers. Its primary purpose is for lowering tree limbs. It also can be used as an ascender and as a descender, but I cannot recommend it to cavers or climbers for either of those purposes. I am not Tarzan, and so I should not make arboreal recommendations.
