I acquired my TRG Grabber from TAD Gear in 2009.
This TRG Grabber is 217 mm. tall, 103 mm. wide, 92 mm. thick, and weighs 742 g.
This is a collapsible grappling hook with three claws. The shaft is 198 mm. long, 22 mm. in diameter, and made from 7075-T651 aluminum alloy. A 19.4 mm. thick 7075-T651 spider is pinned to the top of the shaft with a 6.3 mm. pin. The spider supports three 8 mm. thick 7075-T651 claws which freely pivot on 9.5 mm. pins. Each claw has two teeth on the end and four more on the underside. A lip on the top edge of each claw strikes the top of the spider when the hook is open.
The grabber has a spring-loaded locking mechanism consisting of a 9.4 mm. aluminum housing, a spring coil, and a basal cover plate. The shaft has two slight diameter reductions, one near the shackle and the other below the spider. The spring holds grips the shaft in either of these positions. In the lowe position, the end teeth on the claws fit into slots and a recess in the top of the housing, holding the claws closed. In the top position, the housing fits between nubbins on the underside of the claws, holding the claws open. The housing does not support any load during use, it merely holds the claws open while the hook is thrown.
A stainless steel shackle pivots at the base of the shaft on a hex socket cap screw. A light tack weld keeps the screw in place.
The grabber is rated for 1650 lbf. (7.3 kN) loads. The shackle is rated at 3500 lbf. (15 kN)
The closure plate is stamped with "TRGear.com" and "PAT # 6530614 B1."

This is clearly the most evil-looking grappling hook in my collection. The workmanship is excellent throughout. In the folded position, it fits into a standard military canteen pouch; extended, the large claws span 255 mm. The hooks grip well on many surfaces. Unfortunately, it takes some fiddling to open and close this hook. This is not a large drawback, but the MR Grappling Hook is much easier to open and close.
The TAD gear web site listed the Grabber as suitable "as an anchor for emergency rappel." Of course, a thrown grappling hook often lands out of site, so the risks are obvious.

This TRG Laser Grappling Hook is 163 mm. tall, 84 mm. wide, 85 mm. thick, and weighs 731 g.

I like this design, especially the way it can be disassembled to fit into a "Batman Utility Belt."
Although the Laser Hook disassembles for transport, mine requires a mallet (or BFR) to assemble or disassemble the two pieces. I could fix this with a file, and even removing some of the thick paint would help. The paint does not bond well to the hook, some of mine has already chipped off. This does not affect the hook’s functionality.
The steel construction gives this hook enough mass to be thrown nicely, and the deep, compact claws provide a good hold on some types of surfaces, but are unlikely to hang up on small rock ledges. Regardless of the hook design, trusting a hook thrown into an unseen position is not safe. The problem with steel is that it rusts.

I acquired my TRG Tech-Hook from TAD Gear in 2009.
This TRG Tech-Hook is 162 mm. tall, 83 mm. wide, 83 mm. thick, and weighs 667 g. The Tech-hook is made from two pieces of laser-cut high-tensile 9.5 mm. steel fit together and welded in place. The eye is 11.5 mm. in diameter, and the auxiliary hole 8.5 mm. The Tech-Hook is painted black
There are no markings on this hook.

The Tech-hook is lighter than the Laser Hook, but it cannot be disassembled for flat carry.
