Prima apparently originated as a kind of brand name of Hupauf. Some axes made during the lifetime of the first Anton Hupfauf (1871-1916) are stamped with both A.HUPFAUF and PRIMA. This practice appears to have ended with the death of the first Anton Hupfauf.
Prima (and Hupfauf) have serial numbers where the first two digits are the year of manufacture.
