T. Kajita / Kajitax
Ice Axes & Ice Hammers

Kajitax was a Japanese manufacturer of alpine equipment active primarily from the late 1970s through the 1990s. Their products were widely used within Japan and were generally characterized by conservative, functional designs rather than experimental or highly specialized forms.

From a historical standpoint, Kajitax occupies an interesting position in Japanese mountaineering gear development. After the company ceased operations, elements of its technical approach and manufacturing experience are understood to have been carried forward into Montbell’s early alpine equipment programs, making Kajitax a transitional presence between earlier domestic makers and more modern Japanese outdoor brands.
