Fritz Jörg
Ice Axes & Ice Hammers

Fritz Jörg produced ice axes in Zweilütschinen in the Berner-Oerland region of Switzerland during the early 1900s. They are usually heavier axes, and all are very well done.

Some of the first axes had extensive markings on top of the head, above the shaft. It seems that axes produced in the 1910s had pick stamps that included "F.JÖRG" while stamps from the 1920s had "FRITZ JÖERG," but this is not certain and so should not be viewed as a reliable way to date his axes.

Starting around 1930, the second generation joined Fritz making ice axes. Those axes are marked with "A. JÖERG." We do not know the full name for the "A." He continued producing axes at least into the 1940s.
