Salewa
Crampons
↑ 011: Salewa
- Made in West Germany [ca. 1972].
- Flexible, Semi–adjustable width, 12–point, Strap–on binding.
- Slanted horizontal front points are more suited for mountaineering and alpine ice slopes than for vertical waterfall ice.
- There are no markings on these crampons. They match the Salewa Crampons shown in the 1972 Chouinard catalog.
- The straps have an SMC plate, but the crampons are not SMC's.
↑ 007: Salewa
- Made in West Germany [ca. 1975].
- Flexible, Adjustable width, 12–point, Strap–on binding.
- Typical Alpine-style crampon suitable for more flexible leather boots.
- Curved forward-facing front points are an improvement over the slanted points of #011 when used on steep ice.
- Carrying Salewa markings. Otherwise identical to Chouinard/Salewa #183 which has both Chouinard and Salewa markings.
- Bought in 1997 as a loaner pair for a friend.
