I acquired my Petzl Pompe, Version A from Inner Mountain Outfitters in 1994. I acquired two more in 2017 as part of Bob Thrun’s collection.
Version A is 195 mm. tall, 100 mm. wide, 32 mm. thick, and weighs 320 g. The rope channel is 15 mm. wide. The cam radius increases from 36 to 53 mm. over an angle of 39°, giving a 30° cam angle. The tooth pattern is (2.3)(2S2.1S1)^2(1S1)^3(1.2).

If you ever wondered what the small hole is for at the base of a Petzl Ascension, this is it. The idea is that you can rig a frog system then attach the bar to your chest ascender. When you stand, the pulleys give you a mechanical advantage and help lift your upper body. THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION SO DON"T TRY THIS WITHOUT INSTRUCTION! Jean Louis Roccourt developed the idea and gave it to Petzl S.A. They applied for a patent in 1991, and received French Patent #2,681,790 in 1993.
Clearly I'm missing something here. Empty the junk from your cave pack or go on a diet instead, but get rid of the weight you are hauling and you won't need this idea. Can someone explain why this idea shouldn't get the lemon award? The ascender is nicely done, but why?

Version B is 192 mm. tall, 104 mm. wide, 29 mm. thick, and weighs 316 g.
The rope channel is 15 mm. wide. The cam radius increases from 36 to 53 mm. over an angle of 34°, giving a 33° cam angle. The tooth pattern is (2.3)(2S2.1S1)^2(1S1)^3(1.2).
Version B uses a later version Petzl Ascension
