Technical Details

Cam faceI acquired this S.E.Peak SA-205D from Amazon.com in 2023.

The S.E.Peak SA-205D is 206 mm. tall, 187 mm. wide, 41 mm. thick, and weighs 387 g. It is made by riveting two right-hand handled ascender "halves" together. The "halves" have a different shaped frame than the S.E.Peak SA–203R handled ascender to provide a single central lower rigging hole.

The rope channels are 15 mm. wide. The cam axles are centered 43 mm. from the inside of the rope channels. The cam radii, measured from the axle axis, increase from 37 to 54 mm. over an angle of 38°, giving 30° cam angles. The tooth pattern is (3.4)(1S1)^2(2S2)(1S1)^3(2.3.2.2.3).

The front of one ascender "half" is printed with a hollow up-pointing arrow containing "UP" and "SA-205D." The rear or the other ascender "half" is printed with the S.E.Peak logo with "S.E.Peak," "EN 567:2013," "Ø8-13mm," and "100g."

Comments

This dual-handled ascender is intended for arborists, so I'll let Tarzan evaluate it for that purpose. Dual ascenders do not have a major role in the type of caving that I prefer.

The hand grips are quite large and the grips fit my hands nicely.
