Technical Details

Cam faceI acquired my ISC Stryder RP227A1 from WesSpur Tree Equipment in 2017.

The ISC Stryder RP227A1 is 52 mm. tall, 76 mm. wide, 28 mm. thick, and weighs 130 g. (202 g. including the supplied harness). The frame is stamped from aluminum alloy. The rope channel is 15 mm. wide. The cam radius increases from 42 to 61 mm. over an angle of 42°, giving a 28° cam angle. The tooth pattern is (4.3)^6(4). There is a spring-loaded safety with a turned pin attached to the underside of the cam. This safety can be manipulated to hold the cam open.

The Stryder comes with a harness made from 20 mm. flat webbing webbing. One piece of webbing circles the ankle, another goes under the instep. The piece under the instep passes through a length of 30 mm. tubular webbing that provides some protection against abrasion.

The outside of the rope channel is printed with "I|S|C," "WLL 140kg 310lb," "Ø 8-13mm," a book-with-an-"i" icon, and an up-pointing arrow. The edge of the rope channel is printed with "STRYDER" and "Manufactured in the UK by I|S|C." The rear is printed with "16/83049/124" and "RP227A1." The adjustment buckle is printed with "I|S|C."

Comments

Foot ascenders such as this don't fit into the climbing systems that I commonly use, although I have met froggers that seem to like them. The ISC is nicely made, and if you take time to learn it, it should work well.

I acquired my ISC Stryder RP228A1 from Elevated Climbing on Amazon.com in 2021.

The ISC Stryder RP227A1 is 52 mm. tall, 75 mm. wide, 30 mm. thick, and weighs 136 g. (211 g. including the supplied harness). The frame is stamped from aluminum alloy. The rope channel is 16 mm. wide. The cam radius increases from 44 to 61 mm. over an angle of 41°, giving a 25° cam angle. The tooth pattern is (4.3)^7.

The outside of the rope channel is printed with "I|S|C," "RP228A1," "191127720069," "WLL 140kg 310lb," "Ø 8-13mm," an up-pointing arrow, and a book-with-an-"i" icon. Comments

The RP228A1 is not just a left-foot RP227A1, as it features a new cam with a new tooth pattern.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
