I acquired this ascender from John E. Weinel, Inc., probably around 1990.
This ascender is 115 mm. tall, 79 mm. wide, 37 mm. thick, and weighs 144 g. The rope channel is 16 mm. wide. The cam radius increases from 41 to 53 mm. over an angle of 35°, giving a 23° cam angle. The tooth pattern is (3.2)^2(4)(3.2)^2(1.2). The cam safety has a knob for the thumb.
The inside of the shell is stamped with a "P" and the rear with "<WIS>."
This is a direct copy of a Petzl Croll. The cam casting is sloppy, and several of the teeth are distorted or missing. The shell is crude, and some hammer marks are visible. Naturally, one would prefer to use the original rather than this copy.
WIS is Walkosz i Spółka, or Walkosz & Co. in English. They are from Bielawa City in Poland. Thanks to Mikołaj Miętek for providing this information.

I acquired this ascender in 2017 as part of Bob Thrun’s collection.
Version B is 118 mm. tall, 77 mm. wide, 37 mm. thick, and weighs 158 g. The rope channel is 15 mm. wide. The cam has been changed. The cam radius increases from 40 to 53 mm. over an angle of 37°, giving a 24° cam angle. The tooth pattern is (1S1.2S2)^2(1S1)^4(2). The cam safety has a pin for the thumb. There is a cylindrical cam stop riveted to the shell.
The inside of the shell is stamped with an inverted "P" and the rear with "<WIS>."
This is a direct copy of a Petzl Croll. The cam casting is still a bit sloppy,but much better than the one on Version A. The shell is well-made, not crude as in Version A. Overall, this is a significant improvement in quality, but I still prefer the original.
