Technical Details

Aleksei Chernov (Алексей Чернов) sent me this Corostrap HDB10N in 2026.

My Corostrap is 103 mm. tall, 54 mm. wide, 9 mm. thick, and weighs 210 g. It is forged from steel and zinc plated.

The front has "Corostrap HDB10N" and "B/S 60KN 08 09/17" in bas-relief letters.

Comments

Aleksei described the Corostrap as follows:

The Corostrap HDB10N is a buckle designed for securing cordage straps, manufactured in the Netherlands. I acquired it from someone who had been using it during rock climbing training sessions and affectionately dubbed it "The Brick." I only learned later that it was not, in fact, a rappelling device. In short, it is a device never intended by its manufacturer for such purposes was being utilized as a rappelling and belaying tool.
