• Massive head secured to shaft by a wedge.
• Underside of the adze is stamped with "IMT" inside a mountain outline.
• Seller wrote, "This piece appears to be from the Showa era and shows the classic style of mid–20th–century Japanese mountaineering tools."
• This resembles a construction pickaxe but is too small and light for such use. The shaft is particularly thin.
