Horeschowsky
Ice Axes & Ice Hammers

Alfrted Horeschosky (1895-1987) was a famous Austrian alpinist, rock climber, and manufacturer of alpine equipment. He made a number of first ascents in the Ennstal Alps. In 1928, he and Hans Pfannmade first ascents of Illampu and Chearoco in the Bolivian Andes. In 1923 he made the third( and first solo) ascent of the Pallavicini Gully on the Großglockner, hammering about 2500 steps into the ice.

Horeschowsky was the top alpinist of the Alpine Society of the "Reichensteiner" and also a member of the Austrian Alpine Club (O.A.K.). He used his experience as an alpinist and skier to design and produce ice axes, crampons, and other alpine gear.
